From Roofs to Roads
Making new use of tear-off shingles.
After nearly 2 years of working with the various Indiana State
Agencies it is here! CRS and Fleming Excavating have
produced their first parking lot together.
Using ground roofing shingles from residential homes in the
Fort Wayne Area, Fleming Excavating placed the material in
place of #5 aggregate.
It is estimated that there are more than 10 million tons of
tear-off shingles are sent to the landfills in the United States.
These shingles can be reclaimed for use as new shingles,
asphalt additives, sub-base work, cold patch, and dust control.
Several states have work with this successfully in the past.
